SOCIAL CHESS

I prefer draughts. It's always embarrassing when I try to have the pawns jumping over kings and queens and various other worthies. That's the kind of thing the horses are supposed to do, even though, bizarrely, they are called 'Knights.' What a daft game that is. I was always looking for the dice before making a move.

Social exchange is exhausting not merely on account of what is going on up front, but mostly for the several conversations you are having with yourself working out the interchange as it happens. On the surface, exchange is more like draughts, simple and direct; in the head, you are playing high speed chess, having to think and act at once.
