COOL EXPERIENCES

And then there was the time I was a hero on the Aspergers pages, the Sean Bean of the Asperger world. That's a true story I told. I didn't even mention that one of the darts players I played was a real live Cherokee Indian, skilled with the arrows.

I don't do small talk, I don't do boring, I don't do mundane. I don't say these by way of self-praise and self-worship. These things are necessary in a successful social life. Much of life is routine. Those with their eyes fixed on the mountains, whether climbing up them or flying down them, can miss the essential details of living, causing problems to themselves and to others. It's the same remiss, other-worldly quality that is also essential to thought, science, and philosophy, that certain remoteness. And it can involve an ecstasy and exhileration that is beyond the experience and understanding of many.
