APPEARANCE, PERFORMANCE, REALITY

'You're a natural,' a woman who with sit next to me in computer classes once told me, after I had drawn her attention to the fact that the tutor never checked to see if I was struggling with exercises, as she did with everyone else. It is true that I tended not to struggle, and tended to fly through the exercises (which was one reason why the nice lady sat next to me said she was 'glad' she was with me).

I am a 'natural' at many things at the level of appearance. People see the show; they don't see the hours and hours of preparation, research and rehearsal, and practice, only the performance. And they enjoy the performance so much they want more of it. They think I just turn it on. I had this in Liverpool in 2010 when people enjoyed my talks so much they wanted more of them. I was so good in delivery, so natural, that people thought I was just speaking freely. Instead I researched and rehearsed and poured over every detail to get the delivery right. And so intense was the entire process that it required hours of rest and recuperation on my part. The feet peddling hard under the surface are never seen, only the graceful exterior.
