Because you can never have enough Queens.
I’m not saying I’ve developed a Queen fetish but …
Having managed to find online chess games which I can actually win (my best result for many years was forcing a draw, and just the once at that), I quickly got bored and now try to see how many pawns I can turn into queens. The computer seems to draw the line at four queens, calling ‘stalemate’ at that point. The machine world, I have discovered, is not as passionate in its obsessions as I am.
The beautiful symmetry with which I closed this game is rather satisfying.
(I’m not sure forming pretty patterns is exactly the object of the game, but I do it all the time in the game of life).
